World Tuberculosis Day

The Department of Community Health Nursing, in association with the Youth Red Cross (YRC), organized a Mass Awareness Programme on Tuberculosis on 24 March 2026 at Primary Health Centre (PHC), Moodabettu, to commemorate World Tuberculosis Day under the global theme "Yes! We Can End TB." The programme aimed to enhance community awareness on tuberculosis prevention, early diagnosis, treatment adherence, and the collective efforts needed to eliminate TB.

The programme was inaugurated in the presence of Dr. Niharika Shetty, Medical Officer, PHC Moodabettu, and Dr. Subramanya Prabhu, Administrative Medical Officer, PHC Moodabettu, who graced the occasion as Chief Guests. The event witnessed active participation from 24 ASHA workers, 10 PHC staff nurses, and numerous community members.

Students of Third Year and First Year B.Sc. Nursing played a vital role in planning and conducting the programme. The event commenced with a prayer song by Ms. Sangeeth Dorgeal, followed by a warm welcome address by Ms. Reena, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Health Nursing. The programme was efficiently compered by Ms. Shreya, First Year B.Sc. Nursing student, in the presence of Ms. Jenifer, YRC Coordinator.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Subramanya Prabhu emphasized the significance of early detection, timely treatment, and public awareness in achieving a tuberculosis-free society. A thought-provoking role play presented by Third Year B.Sc. Nursing students effectively conveyed key messages on TB prevention, management, and treatment adherence, reinforcing the campaign theme "Yes! We Can End TB."

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Jayalaxmi, Third Year B.Sc. Nursing student. The event was a resounding success, reflecting the collaborative efforts of healthcare professionals, faculty, students, and the community in strengthening awareness and promoting the fight against tuberculosis.
