World Suicide Prevention Day 2025

Niraamaya College of Nursing, in association with the Youth Red Cross (YRC) and the Institutional Counselling Cell—ASARE, observed World Suicide Prevention Day on 10 September 2025 at the Seminar Hall, Admin Block, SMVITM, with an awareness program promoting mental health and suicide prevention.

The keynote session was delivered by Dr. Vasudev S., RMO and Psychiatrist, District Hospital, Ajjarkad, Udupi, who highlighted the importance of recognizing early warning signs, reducing the stigma surrounding mental health, and encouraging timely professional support. He also emphasized the collective role of families, educational institutions, peers, and communities in fostering a safe and supportive environment.

The interactive session equipped participants with practical strategies to build resilience, manage stress, and seek help when needed. The program concluded with a vote of thanks, reinforcing the institution's commitment to promoting mental well-being, creating awareness, and inspiring hope through education and community support.
