Lamp Lighting & Oath Taking Ceremony 2024–28
The Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony for the second batch of B.Sc. Nursing students (2024–28) was held on 16 January 2025 at the Seminar Hall, SMVITM. The ceremony was presided over by Shri Rathnakumar, Honorable Secretary, SVH Education Society, Udupi.
The event commenced with an invocation, followed by the ceremonial lamp lighting and a floral tribute to Florence Nightingale, symbolizing the spirit of compassionate nursing. Dr. Flavia Castelino, Principal, NCON, welcomed the gathering, while the Chief Guest, Dr. Anitha C. Rao, Professor and Principal, Vidyarathna College of Nursing, Udupi, addressed the students on the significance of the Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony and the enduring legacy of Florence Nightingale.
The nursing oath was administered by Dr. Flavia Castelino, as students pledged to uphold the highest standards of honesty, integrity, compassion, and professional ethics. The ceremonial lighting of the students' lamps by the dignitaries marked the beginning of their noble journey in nursing.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Roshani Rodrigues, Vice Principal, NCON, followed by the National Anthem.
