Lamp Lighting & Oath Taking Ceremony – First Batch of B.Sc. Nursing

The Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony for the inaugural batch of B.Sc. Nursing students was held on March 21, 2024, at the NIHS Seminar Hall, Niramaya College of Nursing, a unit of Vishnumoorthy Hayavadana Swami Education Society® under Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt, Udupi.

The program was presided over by Shri Rathnakumar, Hon’ble Secretary, SVH Education Society, Udupi. The ceremony commenced with a prayer, invoking divine blessings for the occasion.

Distinguished dignitaries present included Dr. N. Bhaskar Acharya (Medical Director, Dr. N. R. Acharya Memorial Hospital, Koteshwara), Dr. Anice George (Professor & Head – Research & Collaborations, Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal), Dr. Naveen M. Ballal (Director, NIHS), and Dr. Flavia Castelino (Principal, NCON).

Dr. Flavia Castelino welcomed the gathering. Dr. N. Bhaskar Acharya highlighted the significance of the Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony in the nursing profession, followed by a reflection on the life and service of Florence Nightingale. Dr. Anice George emphasized that care is the essence of nursing and encouraged students to practice compassionate and selfless service.

The ceremony culminated with the Oath Taking by the student nurses, pledging to uphold the values of honesty, integrity, and dedication in their professional journey.
