LAMP LIGHTING & OATH TAKING CEREMONY

The Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony for the second batch of B.Sc. Nursing students was solemnly conducted on 16th January 2025 at the Seminar Hall, SMVITM. The ceremony marked a significant milestone in the professional journey of the student nurses, symbolizing their commitment to the noble nursing profession.

The programme was presided over by Shri Rathnakumar, Hon’ble Secretary, SVH Education Society, Udupi. The auspicious occasion commenced with an invocation, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. The dignitaries paid a heartfelt floral tribute to Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.

Dr. Flavia Castelino, Principal, NCON, extended a warm welcome to the gathering. The esteemed Chief Guest, Dr. Anitha C. Rao, Professor and Principal of Vidyarathna College of Nursing, Udupi, delivered an inspiring address highlighting the significance of the Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony in the nursing profession. She also shared insights into the life and contributions of Florence Nightingale towards the care of the sick and suffering.

The oath was administered by Dr. Flavia Castelino, wherein the student nurses pledged to uphold the values of honesty, integrity, and justice in their professional practice. The ceremonial lighting of lamps by the dignitaries—Dr. Anitha C. Rao, Dr. Flavia Castelino, Shri Rathnakumar, and Dr. Naveen M. Ballal—symbolized the passing of knowledge, compassion, and dedication to the students.

The programme was gracefully compered by Ms. Loretta Veena Dsilva, Lecturer, NCON. The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Roshani Rodrigues, Vice Principal, NCON, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, organizers, and participants.

The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem, leaving behind a sense of pride, responsibility, and inspiration among the budding nurses.
